Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan are among the world’s most admired people, according to an online survey conducted by YouGov UK.
While Bill Gates topped the men’s list, Angelina Jolie ranked first in the women’s list. The survey by the website has been conducted since 2015. Both Gates and Jolie are consecutive winners for the third time, having been featured on the list since 2015.
The survey conducted in the form of an online interview, included 37,000 people from 35 countries. The responses to the two questions asked in the survey led to the ranking of the people. The questions included whether a respondent admired the person at all and whether they are the person they admire the most. The answers from these two questions were combined to form the list.
The World’s Most Admired people list includes celebrities from across the border such as Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone and also features Emma Watson, Taylor Swift, and Madonna. The women’s list features celebrities out of which Angelina Jolie and Emma Watson are known for their humanitarian work.
Among the list of politicians, the list separate for men and women, includes the names of the bigwigs like German Chancellor Angela Merkel, US President Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Turkish President Recip Tayyip Erodgan, Russian Premier Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chinese President Xi Jinping. The list also has the names of Queen Elizabeth II, and Oprah Winfrey, who has taken the third position.
The list also features some of the sports personalities such as Elon Musk, Christiano Ronaldo, Warren Buffet, Lionel Messi and David Beckham.
The order of the people ranking was also affected by the populous countries tilting it. For instance, globally in 19 countries Obama was ranked 1, while Bill Gates only managed to take up the 6th spot. But, in populous countries, such as China, and Russia, Bill Gates performed better, thus tilting the balance in his favour.
